El lunes se comenzó a implementar el sistema judicial de juicio por jurados en la región que dictaminó el primer veredicto de culpabilidad desde que se implementa esta modalidad en la provincia de Buenos Aires.
El hecho se registró en el Departamento Judicial de Lomas de Zamora, cuando un jurado integrado por doce ciudadanos titulares y seis suplentes determinó la responsabilidad de Walter Fabián Acuña Prost en un caso de “robo agravado por el uso de arma de fuego”.
Como informa el portal Infonews, el robo fue cometido el 24 de enero del año 2014 en la localidad bonaerense de Banfield, cuando un hombre fue abordado por varios sujetos mientras intentaba guardar su auto en el garaje de su casa. Posteriormente, la policía se tiroteó con los delincuentes y logró aprehender a uno de ellos.

Tras el debate oral la fiscalía pidió que se condene al imputado por el delito de robo calificado por el empleo de armas de fuego (delito que prevé penas de 6 años y ocho meses a 20 años).
En tanto, la defensa pidió la absolución diciendo que “no está probado que la persona aprehendida haya sido realmente uno de los que iba a bordo del vehículo”, reclamó que se considere el hecho como un robo simple en grado de tentativa (que tiene una pena prevista de 15 días a 4 años de prisión).
El jurado
El jurado está compuesto por 12 personas, 6 mujeres y 6 hombres, y 6 suplentes. Los requisitos para ser uno de los integrantes son: ser argentino nativo o naturalizado con una residencia de por lo menos 5 años, comprender el idioma, no tener impedimentos psíquicos o físicos y no estar limitado legalmente.
No podrán participar abogados, políticos electos, integrantes de fuerzas de seguridad, defensa, servicio penitenciario o seguridad privada, ni del Poder Judicial.
Quienes deban ser jurados recibirán un pago de 730 pesos más el traslado desde su domicilio hacia Tribunales y 1 o 2 comidas diarias, dependiendo de la situación.
A cargo del jurado está el veredicto del juicio; es decir, la determinación de la culpabilidad o inocencia del imputado, mientras que la pena será impuesta por el juez.
