La confirmación de los dos casos de dengue en una familia de Quilmes por parte del Ministerio de Salud de la Nación preocupan y ponen en acción a las autoridades. Mientras se aguarda por los resultados de laboratorio a otros siete vecinos, los dos afectados ya fueron dados de alta y están fuera de peligro.
En tanto, en la comuna comenzaron los trabajos de fumigación del barrio Don Bosco, donde estaría focalizada la hembra del Aedes aegypti, la especie de mosquito que causa el dengue. El alerta comenzó cuando una familia quilmeña fue internada con síntomas de dengue. Dos de sus integrantes fueron al hospital Iriarte, y el restante a una clínica privada. Con el transcurso de las horas, los estudios demostraron que dos de estas personas padecían el virus, por lo que fueron tratadas inmediatamente.
Hasta el momento, los trabajos de exterminio de mosquitos, transmisores de esta enfermedad, están focalizados en esta zona, que es la afectada. “No se puede alertar a 600 mil habitantes por casos que ocurren en un sector especí- fico del distrito”, explicó la directora de Epidemiología de Quilmes, Sonia Morua.
La fumigación se realiza a primera hora de la mañana y a última de la tarde, porque es el horario en el que salen en busca de alimento. Además, desde la Municipalidad aprovechan para concientizar a los vecinos y comentarles sobre los métodos de prevención para evitar que se propague este virus: “Entregamos folletería casa por casa para educar a la población en la necesidad de eliminar los reservorios de agua de sus hogares”, detallaron.
Los siete casos que están siendo estudiados se deben a que las personas presentaron síntomas clínicos compatibles con la enfermedad en cuestión. “El jueves pasado enviamos siete muestras para que sean analizadas y estamos atentos a nuevos casos. En cuanto a las personas que dieron resultado positivo, hay que destacar que ya fueron dados de alta y están fuera de peligro”, contó Morua en diálogo con El Quilmeño.
El dengue es una enfermedad transmitida por un mosquito, el Aedes Aegypti, que se reproduce en aguas estancadas. Esta enfermedad sólo se transmite por la picadura del mosquito infectado. Como no existe vacuna, la prevención es vital. Se recomienda utilizar repelente (salvo en menores de un año), sobre todo al amanecer y al atardecer. Además, para evitar que los moquitos se infecten, se debe mantener bien tapados los recipientes en los que pueda acumularse agua, sacar la basura en bolsas cerradas, entre otras medidas.
