Facebook está analizando la posibilidad de vincular su servicio con la aplicación de mensajes instantáneos WhatsApp, informa el blog estadunidense GeekTime después de que un usuario encontrase la función en una nueva versión de la aplicación para celulares Android.
La opción apareció en una nueva versión de prueba (la 31.0.0.7.13). En la barra de estado se ve, además de las funciones ya conocidas para poner “me gusta” o hacer comentarios, un botón nuevo de “enviar” en el que aparece el logo de WhatsApp. Esto da a entender que pueden enviarse comentarios desde Facebook a los contactos de WhatsApp.
En la versión oficial de la app de Facebook no se observa aún esta posibilidad. Ante la pregunta de dpa, la red social indicó: “Como siempre, Facebook no comenta ningún rumor o especulaciones”.
Facebook compró WhatsApp hace más de un año pero subrayó que el servicio seguiría siendo totalmente independiente. Los dos fundadores de las compañías, Jan Koum (WhatsApp) y Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) aseguraron que los datos de los usuarios no se compartirían.
La introducción de un botón para enviar mensajes a WhatsApp desde Facebook no implicaría el final de la independencia de la aplicación, pero sí confirmaría los temores de los críticos de que los datos hasta ahora separados de los usuarios de ambas compañías serían controlados de manera conjunta.
Las reglas de uso recientemente actualizadas por Facebook permitirían una medida así. Según establecen, no hay problema en que fluya la información entre las distintas ofertas de las que es dueña la red social. WhatsApp hace gala sin embargo de recabar la menor cantidad posible de datos de sus usuarios, mientras que Facebook vive de la publicidad que emite de forma personalizada según los perfiles de sus usuarios.
