Unas 10.000 personas permanecían evacuadas y autoevacuadas en la provincia de Buenos Aires a raíz de las persistentes lluvias que afectan desde hace siete días a 39 municipios del norte y este provincial, mientras un operativo conjunto coordinado por varios ministerios nacionales asiste a los afectados y refuerza su ayuda ante la proximidad de una sudestada.
Si bien dejó de llover en algunas zonas, con lo que el nivel de los ríos empezó a bajar, se teme que la sudestada anunciada para hoy y la madrugada del jueves agrave la situación, por lo que las carteras de Desarrollo Social, Salud, Planificación, Seguridad y Defensa junto autoridades bonaerenses planifica acciones para mitigar la emergencia.
Pueblos aislados, rutas cortadas, picos de crecida históricos de ríos, campos y barrios enteros bajo el agua es el resultado de la caída de más de 400 milímetros desde hace siete días, cuando el promedio anual en esa zona se sitúa entre 850 y 900.
Las cuencas afectadas son la de los ríos Arrecifes, De La Plata Inferior, Salado, Areco, Luján, Matanza, y De La Plata Superior, y el pronóstico anticipan más lluvias en la zona en lo que resta d de la jornada de hoy y mañana y recién el viernes se espera buen tiempo.
Las principales localidades alcanzadas por el fenómeno climático son Luján, Lobos, San Antonio de Areco, Salto, La Matanza y Arrecifes. También se registran inundaciones en Balcarce, Berisso, Bragado, Campana, Capilla Del Señor, Capitán Sarmiento, Castelli, Chacabuco, Chivilcoy y Escobar.
También Exaltación De La Cruz, Lomas de Zamora, Irala, Mercedes, San Miguel del Monte, Pila, Pilar, Quilmes, Saladillo, General Viamonte, Zárate, Pergamino y 25 de Mayo.

El jefe de Gabinete, Aníbal Fernández, dijo que “la presencia del gobierno nacional está desde el primer momento”, en referencia a la asistencia oficial que se está brindando a los miles de afectados por las graves inundaciones en la provincia de Buenos Aires.
