Se formaron a fines del año 1997. Editaron un disco, compartieron escenario con grandes referentes del rock como La Vela Puerca, Bersuit Vergarabat, Autenticos Decadentes, Ataque 77, El Otro yo, Los Visitantes y empezaban a consolidarse como una de las bandas influyentes del Sur, pero en el 2005 por diferentes motivos deciden separarse. Este sábado, 10 años después, vuelve a los escenarios Rey Gurú, la mítica banda formada en los barrios de Almirante Brown.
“Consideramos que es momento de volver al ruedo. Con los chicos de la banda seguimos en contacto, tocando, armando nuevos temas y creemos que seguimos manteniendo la misma esencia de siempre pero con más fuerza y más consolidados individualmente y como grupo”, afirma en diálogo con Brown On line, Pablo “Peyo” Campolioti, el cantante de la banda que está sábado estará tocando en Auditorio Sur.
Junto a Peyo, en voz y guitarra, la actual formación de la banda se completa con Hernan Lezak en bajo y coros, Julio Baca Paunero en teclados y acústica, Joel Fogonza en guitarra, Juan Dibur en batería y programación, Guille “Bata” Ioannucci en percusión, Diego Sammares en trompeta, Ale Pozo en trombón y Emiliano “Cui” Puñales en saxo.
Desde su primera presentación en el teatro “Luz y Fuerza” en 1998 hasta el próximo show del sábado la banda estuvo marcada por las diferentes experiencias personales y musicales de sus músicos, pero siguiendo fiel a su esencia, fusionando distintos géneros como rock, reggae y ska, dándole gran importancia a sus letras. “Con la idea de fusionar distintos géneros, como el punk, rock, reggae y ska, más las influencias del folclore argentino y latinoamericano, intentamos recrearlos dentro de un sonido trasgresor y poderoso, conservando a la vez, la esencia de cada género. Somos rock riopletanse abierto a todos los estilos que le den color a la música”, asegura Peyo
Sefún anticipa el músico, el auditorio vibrará con los clásicos de la banda muchos de los cuales integran el primer, y por el momento, único disco de la banda “Embrión de la tierra” editado en el 2011 y que cuenta con la participación de Gustavo Cordera en el tema “Mira”, y Juan Subirá con acordeón en el tema “Sólo por tu amor”, ambos de Bersuit Vergarabat
Pero también los fanáticos, y el público nuevo que se fue incorporando estos últimos años, se encontrarán con algunos inéditos y temas nuevos que los chicos de Rey Gurú están preparando. “Pronto, se vendrán nuevas fechas por Buenos Aires y el interior del país. Y esperemos que todo confluya en una nuevo disco de la banda”, ansía Peyo.
El regreso
El regreso de Rey Gurú será este sábado en Auditorio Sur, Meeks 1080, Temperley. El show comenzará a las 20 con las actuaciones de las bandas teloneras La Chalina y La Alfombra de Norman.
