A pesar de la derrota, el tricolor se mantiene en la punta teniendo en cuenta que le lleva 4 puntos a su inmediato perseguidor, Defensores de Belgrano, quien tiene la chance de ponerse a uno si es que hoy gana.
El visitante no tuvo una buena tarde y le costó desplegar el juego que venía desarrollando en estas fechas. Un factor importante fue la ausencia de Maidana, que debió cumplir con una fecha de suspensión, ya que es un jugador clave dentro de la estructura del equipo.
