Juan Cappiello, centro de Pucará y oriundo de Almirante Brown fue una de las piezas clave del seleccionado local y otro de los jugadores surgidos de la cantera del Rojo, fue una pieza clave para el equipo siendo titular en todos los encuentros que disputaron las Águilas.
Ante una gran cantidad de público que llegó hasta Don Torcuato para presenciar la consagración, el partido comenzó siendo parejo hasta los primeros diez minutos en el que se intercambiaron algunos penales por lado, para establecer un resultado favorable a Tucumán por 6 a 3, único tramo del partido en el que los visitantes estuvieron arriba en el marcador.
Pero las emociones no tardarían en llegar y a los 11 minutos del primer tiempo, Buenos Aires robó un line en territorio contrario y de aquella pelota recuperada llegó el primer try del partido por parte del capitán Tomás De la Vega casi debajo de los palos convertido por Mercerat, para establecer 10 a 6 parcial.
Pocos minutos después volvió a descontar Tucumán con un penal de su apertura, Juan León Novillo, para achicar las diferencias 10 a 9. Pero a partir de los 20 minutos casi todo sería de Las Águilas. A los 21 Bruno Devotó apoyó el primero de sus tres tries debajo de los palos tras una buena conexión entre los backs y los forwards de Buenos Aires. Poco después, y tras un gran contraataque, llegó un nuevo try de Buenos Aires a cargo de Gonzalo Gutiérrez Taboada. Y a los 35 minutos, luego de un scrum desde el lado izquierdo, la apertura de la pelota llegó a manos de Devoto que a pura potencia se filtró en la defensa para apoyar un nuevo try para estirar las ventajas 31 a 9 para el local.
Tucumán pudo salir del asedio en la jugada siguiente y tras una buena combinación de sus tres cuartos llegó al try por intermedio de su wing, Agustín Cortés y acortar las diferencias a 31 a 14. Y cuando el primer tiempo se terminaba, nuevamente Las Águilas consiguieron vulnerar el ingoal tucumano. En una jugada de varias fases en la que la pelota fue de un lado a otro de la cancha, la ovalada cayó en manos de Gonzalo Gutiérrez Taboada quien corrió por la punta derecha y apoyó su segundo try y quinto para Buenos Aires.
El resultado parcial 38 a 14 favorable para Las Águilas marcaba a las claras el amplio dominio de los locales en la primera parte del partido.
En el segundo tiempo Buenos Aires continuó dominando las acciones pero sin generar situaciones de peligro y Tucumán intentaba pero no lograba dominar en las formaciones fijas. Pasados los 20 minutos llegarían mayores diferencias para los locales. Buenos Aires se propuso ampliar las cuentas y lo consiguió con los tries de Juan Cruz González, Joaquín Díaz Bonilla y Bruno Devoto, más dos conversiones de Mercerat que pusieron el resultado final 57 a 14 a favor de Las Águilas.
Con el cuarto triunfo al hilo en el Torneo Argentino (resta la última fecha del sábado 28 de noviembre como visitante frente a Rosario), Buenos Aires consiguió su 35° título en la competencia nacional.
