En el 2007 el Concejo Deliberante autorizó al Ejecutivo adquirir un predio en Burzaco, conocido como la Quinta Rocca, de 13 hectáreas parquizadas que servirán para la instalación de la futura casa de altos estudios.
En el 2013, la iniciativa toma estado parlamentario al ingresar en la Cámara de Diputados el proyecto de Ley que crea la Universidad Nacional de Almirante Brown, impulsado por legisladores del FpV.
El 26 de octubre del 2014, las comisiones de Educación y Presupuesto de la Cámara de Diputados dan respaldo a la creación de la Universidad que baja al recinto el 22 de octubre de ese año y obtiene media sanción, con 173 votos a favor y 53 abstenciones.
Casi un año después, y ya con dictamen favorable, los brownianos esperan que ocurra lo mismo en el Senado y que el sueño de la Universidad Nacional de Almirante Brown sea una realidad.
