Desde el inicio, Argentina mostró un amplio dominio de juego que se vio reflejado con la temprana apertura del marcador, a los 4′ producto de la segunda jugada fija capitalizada por Noel Barrionuevo. Tras unos minutos sin goles para las dirigidas por Santiago Capurro, a los 11′ Noel Barrionuevo, en el cuarto corto a favor, anotó el 2 a 0 -el quinto en su cuenta personal-. Sobre el cierre del primer cuarto, Agustina Albertarrio desvío una bocha en el área y estableció el 3 a 0 parcial.
En el nacer del segundo periodo, Pilar Romang (18′) direccionó una pelota dividida al círculo enviada por Florencia Habif y puso 4 a 0 el trámite del partido. Un minuto más tarde, Rocío Sánchez Moccia estiró la ventaja a través de un remate cruzado que dejó sin reacción a la arquera dominicana, Cindy De La Rosa. A partir de ese momento llegó una seguidilla de tres goles argentinos. Macarena Rodríguez (24′) -quien hoy cumplió 200 partidos internacionales-, Delfina Merino (27′) y Pilar Romang (29′) fueron las encargadas de convertir para el 8 a 0 transitorio.
Luego del descanso, Argentina salió dispuesta a seguir marcando la diferencia sobre su rival. Así, a los 31′ Paula Ortiz aseguró el noveno gol argentino y un minuto después, Julia Gomes Fantasia, de corner corto, estampó el 10 a 0. República Dominicana, por su parte, dispuso de dos jugadas fijas que fueron bien resueltos por Florencia Mutio.
En la última etapa, Las Leonas evidenciaron nuevamente la superioridad del juego en el tanteador y sellaron la victoria a través de Rocío Sánchez Moccia (48′) y Luciana Molina (60′). Si bien no primó la efectividad en la ejecución, es para destacar que el conjunto albiceleste consiguió 13 corners cortos.
Con el triunfo sobre República Dominicana, las argentinas cerraron la primera fase del torneo como líderes del Grupo A, con puntaje ideal (9 puntos) y 26 goles a favor. Volverán a jugar el próximo lunes ante Cuba (10am), que finalizó cuarto del Grupo B, en busca del pasaje a la instancia de semifinales de los Panamericanos de Toronto.
