El Ministerio de Salud, a cargo de Daniel Gollan, comienza hoy la distribución en las 24 jurisdicciones del país de una primera partida de 200.000 dosis de la vacuna contra la varicela, la enfermedad eruptiva más frecuente de la infancia.
El Calendario Nacional de Vacunación argentino cuenta así con 18 de las 19 vacunas que estarán disponibles durante este año en todos los vacunatorios y hospitales públicos del país.
La cartera sanitaria adquirió las dosis necesarias para proteger con un esquema de una dosis a los 750.000 niños que cumplan 15 meses durante este año, incorporando a la estrategia de prevención primaria a los niños que hayan nacido a partir el 1 de octubre de 2013.
El objetivo es disminuir la incidencia y la mortalidad por varicela en la población vacunada, así como en poblaciones de riesgo que no pueden recibir la vacuna (embarazadas, inmuno-comprometidos) y otros grupos no vacunados, ya que alcanzando elevadas coberturas de vacunación en la población objetivo se limita la circulación viral y se beneficia en forma indirecta al resto de la población.
La incorporación de la vacuna contra la varicela al Calendario Nacional de Vacunación a partir de 2015 fue dispuesta? por la Presidenta Cristina Fernández de Kirchner el año pasado, cuando también incluyó otras dos vacunas, en el marco de una política de equidad en salud que favorece el acceso de la población a la prevención primara, independientemente de su condición social.? El Estado nacional compra y distribuye las vacunas para su aplicación gratuita en los más de 8.500 vacunatorios públicos.
Acerca de la varicela
