El departamento de Justicia de EEUU imputó a nueve directivos de la FIFA y a cinco ejecutivos de empresas por pago de coimas para la compra-venta de derechos deportivos, donde se habrían pagado sobornos por 150 millones de dólares. Estarían invulocrados los empresarios argentinos son Alejandro Burzaco, de Torneos y Competencias, y Hugo y Mariano Jinkis, de Full Play Group.
Esta mañana, siete de los imputados fueron arrestados en Suiza.
Se trata de los directivos de FIFA Jeffrey Webb, Eduardo Li, Julio Rocha, Costas Takkas, Eugenio Figueredo, Rafael Esquivel y José María Marín.
Figueredo, de nacionalidad uruguaya, es el vicepresidente de FIFA, mientras que también fue imputado Nicolás Leoz, ex titular de la Conmebol.
El organismo estadounidense hizo público un comunicado en el que anuncia que han sido presentadas 47 acusaciones ante el tribunal de Brooklyn (Nueva York) por “organización mafiosa, fraude masivo y blanqueo de dinero, entre otros”.
La Justicia estadounidense no ha formulado cargos contra el presidente de la FIFA, el suizo Joseph Blatter, que se presenta a la reelección para un quinto mandato el próximo viernes en el Congreso de la FIFA en Zurich.
También se destacan entre los acusados son el costarricense Eduardo Li, el nicaragüense Julio Rocha, el trinitense Jack Warner, el venezolano Rafael Esquivel, el brasileño José María Marín y los caimaneses Costas Takkas y Jeffrey Webb.
“Corrupción rampante, sistemática y profundamente enraizada” es la descripción de la fiscal general Loretta Lynch, que puntualiza que “se ha extendido en las dos últimas generaciones de federativos que abusaron de sus puestos de confianza para conseguir millones de dólares en mordidas y sobornos”.
Algunos de los responsables de estos delitos pueden afrontar penas de cárcel de 20 años, según la nota, que precisa que además de los 10 años de prisión que le pueden pedir, a Figueredo le podrían revocar su nacionalidad estadounidense por falsificación.
Los tres argentinos involucrados
“Los acusados y sus cómplices” están divididos en tres categorías: los funcionarios con participación dentro de FIFA o en algunas de las organizaciones que la forman, los representantes de medios de comunicación y ejecutivos de empresas de marketing y, por último, los empresarios, banqueros u otros intermediarios que realizaron pagos ilícitos.
En la segunda categoría, entre los representantes de la empresas con derechos de televisión, aparecen los tres argentinos. El primero de la lista de Alejandro Burzaco, presidente de Torneos y Competencias S.A. Cierran este grupo de empresarios Hugo y Mariano Jinkis, directores de Full Play, “una empresa de marketing deportivo con sede en Argentina”.
