Un albañil oriundo de Jujuy, que sufrió la amputación de ambos antebrazos, fue atendido en un hospital público del Sur del
conurbano, adonde le colocaron dos prótesis que le permitirán tener una vida “casi normal”, aseguraron desde la cartera sanitaria provincial.
Se trata de Rodrigo Tolaba, casado, padre de 2 hijos, quien el 12 de junio de 2011 estaba trabajando como albañil cuando recibió una fuerte descarga eléctrica a través de una escalera que se enredó en
un cable de alta tensión.
Se presume que Tolaba quiso impedir que la escalera le cayera encima y utilizó sus brazos, aunque como relató: “No sé qué pasó porque ahí me desmayé, me electrocuté y me desmayé, se me puso todo negro y no me acuerdo más nada”.
El joven fue trasladado de inmediato al hospital Salvador
Mazza y Pablo Soria, de San Salvador, donde estuvo internado unas dos semanas y empezó a mover un poco las manos pero después “ya no respondieron más”.
Ante esa complicación se resolvió trasladarlo al Hospital del
Quemado de Buenos Aires donde finalmente debieron amputarle
ambos antebrazos, tras lo cual solicitó la ayuda del Estado provincial
para conseguir una prótesis, porque en el ámbito privado le pedían más de 700.000 pesos para el tratamiento.
La senadora jujeña Liliana Fellner obtuvo respuesta del ministerio de Salud bonaerense, que contactó a Tolaba con el equipo de médicos que funciona en el hospital público de Ensenada.
El ministro de Salud provincial, Alejandro Collia, detalló que “desde el año pasado el hospital El Dique cuenta con un equipo especializado en la confección de prótesis para personas que no cuentan con cobertura de obra social” y recordó que “la primera prótesis que se confeccionó allí fue la pierna izquierda de Raúl ‘Tony’ Lescano”, el joven que fue arrojado del puente de Avellaneda desde unos 5 metros de altura, durante una protesta de portuarios.
Tolaba recibió unas prótesis provisorias la semana pasada y en un par de meses tendrá las definitivas, precisó una fuente del ministerio
de Salud bonaerense.
“Todavía me cuesta agarrar un vaso o vestirme, peroponiendo ganas y fuerzas se puede”, aseguró en dialogo con Télam y reconoció que lo motiva “la alegría de su familia” y espera que en breve pueda desarrollar una vida normal.
Son muchas las cosas que no se pueden hacer sin los antebrazos:
comer, beber, bañarse, vestirse, ir al baño, casi todo es imposible sin ayuda pero Tolaba se sobrepone y confía en que el equipo médico,
conformado por Germán Tovar, Miriam Sánchez y Patricia Nucettelli, de Hospital público provincial, le devolverá
algo de todo eso para que pueda recobrar parte de su autonomía.
En un par de meses, Rodrigo tendrá las prótesis definitivas: un brazo derecho mioeléctrico, similar por forma y color a un brazo humano, y una prótesis izquierda mecánica.
Con la prótesis derecha podrá tomar y soltar objetos y hasta rotar la “muñeca”. Del lado izquierdo, le colocarán una prótesis mecánica sostenida por un arnés y que con el movimiento del hombro le podrá dar movimiento para asir y sostener lo que precise, sostienen desde la cartera sanitaria.
