El 6 de mayo se cumplen tres años de la muerte del jugador de las inferiores de Banfield, Lautaro Bugato, a manos del ex policía David Benítez, cuando la víctima quedó en medio de un asalto cometido en la localidad bonaerense de Burzaco en 2012.
El caso llegó a juicio y el efectivo fue condenado. El año pasado el Tribunal Oral en lo Criminal (TOC) 10 de Lomas de Zamora consideró al imputado David Ramón Benítez culpable y lo condenó a 14 años de presión por “homicidio agravado por el uso de arma de fuego”.
“No puedo decir que estoy feliz, sé que mi hijo va a tener un poco de paz. Estoy conforme siempre que la pena sea efectiva, tiene que pagar por lo que hizo”, expresó en su momento Alicia Giardina, la madre de la victim que tenía 20 años cuando falleció a causa de los disparos policiales.
“No se si el caso marcó un antes y un después pero sí fue un resonante, porque mi hermano era un pibe bien para los parámetros de la sociedad”, consideró Gonzalo Bugatto, hermano de Lautaro. “Si no se hubiesen dado determinadas condiciones mi hermano hubiera sido un caso más en el conurbano”, completó.
El hecho
El asesinato de Lautaro sucedió la madrugada del 6 de mayo de 2012, cuando Benítez, que estaba franco de servicio y de civil, circulaba a bordo de un Renault 12 junto a su esposa por el cruce de avenida Monteverde y Pedro Goyena, de Burzaco, partido de Almirante Brown.
Delante del auto en el que se movilizaba Benítez iban su hija menor de edad y su hermana en un ciclomotor.
Según la acusación, dos delincuentes quisieron robar el pequeño rodado, por lo que el policía se identificó y efectuó varios disparos con su arma reglamentaria hacia los asaltantes, que no dispararon.
Según declararon amigos de Bugatto que se encontraban con él en la puerta de la casa para ir a bailar, el policía efectuó siete disparos “a mansalva” y “en zig zag”, uno de los cuales le pegó a Lautaro en la espalda.
El futbolista fue cargado en un auto y llevado hasta la Clínica Burzaco, donde finalmente murió.
La versión del policía fue que los asaltantes le dispararon, él quiso defenderse e incluso dio a entender que uno de ellos sería Bugatto, ya que dijo que se fue corriendo por la calle Pedro Goyena, lugar donde éste cayó herido
El homenaje
El homenaje será el 8 de mayo a partir de las 9 en la plaza Libertad de Lomas de Zamora, donde se colocará una placa para recordarlo. En junio de 2014, el Club Atlético Banfield fue el que le rindió homenaje colocando una placa con su imagen pateando una pelota en una de las paredes del estadio Florencio Sola.
